Submission guidelines
Clay Jars Publishing will only accept material that is committed to Christian values and beliefs. We are looking for works of fiction and non-fiction that honor God, exalt Biblical truths, and provide inspiration for Christians as well as for non-Christians. We publish 2-3 titles a year for youths, young adults, and adults. Categories: Fiction and Non-Fiction.
Fiction:
Adventure, Chapter Books, Drama Collections, Early Readers, Historical, Humor, Middle Readers, Mystery, Picture Books (only by invitation), Poetry, Romance, Short Story Collections, Novels.
We are interested in books with appealing characters our readers can identify with. We like original and compelling plots about characters who find biblically principled solutions for the issues and concerns that people deal with as they navigate through the business of living. We want to see characters that change for the better; characters that grow in their faith, and in their relationships with others.
Non-Fiction:
Biographies, Devotional Collections, Poetry, Prayer Collections, Self-help for personal problem-solving.
Submission Requirements: We will only accept electronic submissions via email with individual attachments created from MS Word. Send electronic Submissions to clayjarspub@gmail.com. Send cover letter and a 1-2 page synopsis accompanied by 2 sample chapters and a chapter by chapter synopsis. Acceptance is not guaranteed. It can take up to three (3) months depending of book volume, before a submission can be thoroughly evaluated. When we receive your submission, we will contact you via email to confirm receipt. If we do not respond to you with the status of your submission before or by the end of three (3) months, please contact us.
If the submissions we receive meet our requirements we will contact the author for further details and a completed manuscript. All submissions should be written to publishing standards, including correct spelling and grammar (using spell check will help to some extent, but making sure words are spelled and used correctly is part of the writer's responsibility). Clay Jars editors will work with authors, who are offered a contract, to meet our standards and to improve the work, but not to do basic editing and proofreading that should have been finished, before submission. We want polished material submitted, not drafts.
If we accept the manuscript, when we send a contract, we will expect the author to send us an appropriate head-shot photo to use for publicity, and a short biography. The contract will not be completely honored until we receive the needed information.
Authors that we publish should consider having a website, a blog, or some type of social media presence as they are expected to promote their book(s).
The Red Sash –Manuscript submission
Again, ONLY electronic submissions are accepted. Anything mailed will not be returned or evaluated. To avoid your manuscript being rejected unread, be sure to follow the content and formatting guidelines, above.
